Which test do I need?

Six yes-or-no questions about your vial. The answer is a package and the reason for it. Nothing you click is stored.

  1. 1. Is the vial still sealed?

Opened vials cannot be tested: the contents may have changed since opening.

  2. 2. Are you unsure the vial holds the compound on the label?

Identity testing by mass spectrometry answers this.

  3. 3. Do you want to know how many milligrams are really in it?

Amount testing measures the vial against a reference standard.

  4. 4. Do you also want bacterial endotoxin measured?

An optional extra. It says nothing about identity or purity.

  5. 5. Do other people hold vials with the same batch code?

A group test splits one test across everyone with that batch.

  6. 6. Are you happy for the result to be public?

Records can be public or private. Private records open only with the key.

0 of 6 answered.

How this works

Most buyers need the standard package: identity first, because a pure vial of the wrong molecule is the worst outcome, then purity and the amount against the label. Endotoxin is an extra that answers a different question and never replaces identity.

Group tests make sense only when everyone holds the same batch code. A record speaks for one vial from one batch. The group test splitter works out each buyer's share.

Questions

Can I test an opened vial?
No. Once a vial is opened, a result could reflect what happened after opening rather than the product as sold. Send a sealed vial from the same batch instead.
Is endotoxin testing enough on its own?
Only if identity, purity and amount are already established another way. An endotoxin result measures bacterial endotoxin and says nothing about what molecule is in the vial or how much of it there is.
